I’ve been making Fairies for around 8 years now, but back in September 2019 – feeling a little frazzled by the efforts of getting our children back to school in one piece and simultaneously trying to design and launch my Christmas Collection – I posted a flippant sketch to instagram of one of my Fernery Fairies in Jeans rather than her usual tutu, with a comment about Mums being the real Fairies that hold everything together. It sparked an idea and, even though almost everyone told me that Fairies didn’t wear jeans and I should keep them in their tutu’s I couldn’t leave the idea, so I went with a spin off of my best selling Breton top design, and the ‘Fairy Mamas’ were born.
My Fairies stand at approximately 9.5cm tall and 4.5cm wide, and are made to order in your choice of hair colours and diverse skin tones - there are swatches on each listing to help you choose, and photographs of each option too. You can even add glasses to your fairy from the drop down options. They can be made in four ways;
As a Hanging Decoration, which comes with a fine waxed cord at the top,
As a Plant Pick, on a 15cm trimmable Bamboo stick ready to pop in vases of flowers or house plants,
As a Bookband, which comes on a loop of elastic which will fit a regular novel or an A5 planner,
Or as a Shelfie, which comes mounted on a 3.5cm cube of wood, so your fairy is freestanding. I've given you a box to add some text, which I type on my vintage adler tippa typewriter- you can see this illustrated in the photos on this listing.
